About Signum

Some stories are not invented. They are handed down.

Signum was born in Florence thirty years ago with a simple and radical idea: that objects made by hand, with carefully chosen materials and ancient knowledge, hold a value that time cannot erode.

At the heart of our atelier, a master bookbinder still works today — a craftsman who refined his art as a restorer at the Biblioteca Nazionale di Firenze, preserving, repairing and breathing new life into volumes centuries old. That same care, that same patience, lives in every object that leaves our hands.

Our collections do not follow the seasons. They speak of permanence, in an age that forgets too quickly.

Come and watch us work. Our workshop at Via dei Benci 29R, in the heart of Florence, is open to the public — because we believe there should be no distance between those who create and those who choose.
